Outreach and Service
Spirit of Vilonia Food Pantry
We partner with other Vilonia churches to support a community food pantry called Spirit of Vilonia. Our church volunteers at the Food Pantry on the 4th Saturday of the month. Each month, we also collect a food of the month for the pantry. You can volunteer or make a monetary or food donation.
Wednesdays at the Well and Backpack Program
We provide dinner and a snack bag to children that attend on Wednesday nights for our Wednesdays at the Well program. If you'd like to help cook or serve a meal or help with a class, we would love for you to join us! We also welcome monetary donations to help with the Backpack Program. The funding for this outreach comes from gifts given above and beyond the annual budget.
Blessing Box
Vilonia UMC has a Blessing Box on our church grounds to help those in our community with food insecurities or that may need other necessities. The Blessing Box was donated to Vilonia UMC. We welcome donations of food anytime someone wants to add to the Blessing Box. The message on the box is, "Take what you need, give what you can." Colossians 3:23-24
The Church Family Life Team
The Church Family Life Team strives to help the congregation grow in their connection to one another through fellowship events and activities. In non-COVID times, this committee plans a gathering almost monthly. While these events are often open to others in the community and we welcome visitors, creating relationships among those who are already a part of the congregation, whether new or long time members, is primary.
The Mission and Outreach Team
The Mission and Outreach Team’s primary goal is to point the congregation’s gaze outward to the needs of our community. They help VUMC to serve and connect with schools, other churches, local organizations, and more. This committee functions as a bridge between the church and the world. Primarily this has been related to our feeding ministries in the past, including funding our Wednesday night dinner.
The Worship Team
The Worship Team supports the pastor and staff’s vision for worship. They help with logistics for Sunday worship, and also offer creative help and support for special services throughout the year.
